The churches in Bedford have launched the Bedford Street Angels Project.
The Bedford Street Angels Project aims to….
Provide a team of Christians, of all ages,
to be available to everyone
using the night clubs and other entertainments
in Bedford Town Centre on Saturday nights.
a practical expression of Christ’s love to all people
A Welcome Message from Adam May, Project Coordinator
A warm welcome and thank you for visiting the website of Bedford Street Angels.
Bedford Street Angels aims:
to advance the Christian religion by serving the public working in, frequenting or visiting the town centre of Bedford, and by the provision of Pastoral care, including but not limited to the formation of the Street Angels programme.
to promote the mental and spiritual wellbeing of the inhabitants of Bedford, by the provision of advice and support.
to support, care and treat persons in need who are homeless and suffering from the effects of poverty, sickness, disability, old age, alcoholism, drug addition, offending behaviour, or any other mental or physical infirmity, as an expression of Christian faith.
We work in close partnership with Bedford Borough Council, the Police, Nightlife Marshals, Pubs and Clubs and many other civic and statutory agencies.
Bedford Street Angels was started following a discussion with the Watford Town Centre Chaplaincy in November 2008 where the idea was well received by all who attended. Volunteers in teams of three have been patrolling the streets of the town since February 2009.
Our objectives would not have been achieved without a fantastic team of volunteers, many of whom commit week after week showing care and love to people in their time of need. Our volunteers are from various groups of diverse Christians of all traditions. They share the Gospel of Jesus and God's love to humanity with the people of our town in practical ways.
I commend this website to you and hope to meet many of you soon. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want to discuss more about any aspect of the project.
With all good wishes,
Yours in the service of Christ,
Adam May Project Coordinator of Bedford Street Angels |
